Plot Summary:

In the early years of the last century, the political situation was turbulent. The sworn brothers Suo Zhiyi, Gu Renyi, and Tang Ziyi all developed feelings for the wealthy young lady Ye Yushan, yet Ye secretly harbored a tender affection for Tang Ziyi, who had once saved her life, and waited patiently for years. Through countless life‑and‑death trials, Liu Suya remained steadfastly by his side. Driven to desperation, Tang took to banditry; later, with the help of his brothers, he shed his outlaw guise and entered the service of the Shengjing General. After the Qing emperor abdicated and with no hope of restoration, the Shengjing General took his own life. The three brothers then served together in the Northeast Army. By a twist of fate, Tang married Liu Suya, who had guarded him for many years, while Ye became the revolutionary partner of Suo, who deeply loved her. As Japanese aggression pressed ever closer, the three brothers joined the Anti‑Japanese United Army. Gu, by nature cunning, ultimately betrayed them; the bond between the three was severed. At their superiors’ orders, Suo and Tang executed Gu, and, moved by their fraternal ties, they adopted his son, Gu Jinbao, to carry on the fight against Japan.
