Plot Summary:

     During the Yongzheng era, Lian’er, the daughter of Lingzhu, a fourth-rank ceremonial officer on the waiting list, sought her father’s pardon and thus came into contact with Prince Rong, the seventeenth son, Yinsi. The two were deeply in love and had planned to marry, but unexpectedly, in order to save his teacher, Aling’a, Yunli was forced to take Aling’a’s daughter, Jiajia, as his wife. Heartbroken, Lian’er navigated the treacherous palace with painstaking caution, yearning for a simple life beyond its walls—only to find herself manipulated by the various factions vying for power. Li Wei sought to form an alliance with her; the Grand Eunuch Su Peisheng hoped to repay her kindness; and Yu Shu, once a sisterly confidante, betrayed her. Beneath the surface of the seemingly harmonious palace lay countless secrets. Just when Lian’er felt she could no longer catch her breath, she was unexpectedly noticed by Yongzheng and elevated to the status of Consort Xi, the most favored concubine in the harem. Yet at that very moment, she realized that everything had grown impossibly complicated: halt even for a moment, and she would be persecuted; press forward, and she might lose herself entirely. At this crossroads, she chose to trust in the light of day and to believe that the storm would eventually pass.
