Plot Summary:

In 1942, after the Chinese Expeditionary Force of 100,000 troops suffered a disastrous defeat along the Nujiang River, fifty thousand brave souls remained forever on the China–Burma border. A year later, the Expeditionary Force’s headquarters received an urgent telegram: the Japanese were developing a poison‑gas bomb in the Wild Man Mountain region. Should they succeed, the situation along the Nujiang would become perilous, directly jeopardizing the broader anti‑fascist war effort. Consequently, the command decided to dispatch a special task force across the Nujiang and into the Wild Man Mountain to thwart the enemy’s plot. Braving the mountain’s harsh and unforgiving environment, the team advanced methodically, outwitting and confronting the Japanese with courage and determination, waging a fierce yet tragic struggle. Meanwhile, the Nationalist Army’s 36th Division, stationed along the Nujiang, worked closely with the underground Communist Party in Tengchong, rescuing hostages and pinning down Japanese forces, thereby providing cover and support for the task force’s mission. After enduring countless hardships, the special unit made two daring incursions into the Wild Man Mountain, ultimately dismantling the Japanese conspiracy at the very brink of catastrophe and making a decisive contribution to turning the tide of the war. Soon thereafter, using the Wild Man Mountain as a breakthrough, the Expeditionary Force launched the strategic counteroffensive in western Yunnan.
