Plot Summary:

Danyang County is the secluded retreat of two of the most renowned litigators in the realm—Lin Zhengyong and Master Yichui—drawing talented lawyers from all corners to gather there. The dissolute young master Tao Mo (played by Jiang Zile) sets his sights on the post of county magistrate in Danyang, so he lavishes five thousand taels of silver on a parched region, securing the coveted appointment as county governor. Yet Tao Mo’s name belies his character: “illiterate and utterly devoid of learning.” Even so, determined to honor his father’s memory, he resolves to be a good official. As the saying goes, a new official’s first three moves set the tone; but instead of devoting himself to his duties, Tao Mo soon finds himself confronted by Gu She (played by Yan Zidong), the last disciple of Master Yichui, and from that moment on, the two join forces to bring peace and stability to the region.
