Plot Summary:

Yang Kang’s son, Yang Guo, was left to wander the martial world from a young age. After being taken in by his old friend Guo Jing, he was sent to the Quanzhen Sect to undergo rigorous training. Unable to endure the hardships, the rebellious Yang Guo fled and inadvertently stumbled into the Ancient Tomb Sect, where he was taken in by Xiao Longnü and taught martial arts. Later, when Li Mochou attacked the Ancient Tomb, putting their lives in grave danger, their bond as master and disciple blossomed into a love that burned deep in their hearts.
As the Mongol cavalry was about to descend upon the south, Guo Jing and his companions stood little chance of holding them off. At a critical moment, Xiao Longnü and Yang Guo unwittingly became embroiled in the conflict and defeated the Golden Wheel Patriarch. Yet even good fortune is hard-won: Yang Guo and Xiao Longnü were parted and reunited time and again, enduring countless perils—through the Martial Arts Tournament, the fierce siege of Xiangyang, the Desolate Valley of Utter Heartbreak, and more—culminating in sixteen years of separation and longing. Sixteen years later, the devoted Yang Guo finally found Xiao Longnü, who had survived the catastrophe, at the bottom of the Desolate Valley, and the two returned to the world. Meanwhile, the Mongols were massing their forces, launching a ferocious assault on Xiangyang. Yang Guo vanquished the Golden Wheel King and, with a flying stone, struck down the Mongol emperor Möngke, earning the greatest credit for the victory in the defense of Xiangyang. With the war over, Yang Guo and Xiao Longnü bade farewell to Guo Jing and the others, taking the Divine Eagle with them as they departed into the distance.
