Plot Summary:

Season 1
A chance encounter during a mission brings female detective Bai Jinxī and the enigmatic man Han Chen into contact, though their initial meeting is anything but amicable. Later, while investigating a rape case, they cross paths again—and Han Chen reveals himself to be a seasoned criminal investigator. Working together to solve the crime, Han Chen’s innovative use of traditional investigative techniques leaves Bai Jinxī thoroughly impressed. Along the way, they clear up longstanding misunderstandings and gradually develop mutual feelings for one another. Five years earlier, an accident robbed Han Chen of part of his memory, yet he still clings to the faint recollection of a fiancée who once meant everything to him. Driven by this lingering obsession, he has scoured every corner in search of her, all the while refusing to open his heart to anyone else. When Han Chen meets Bai Jinxī and begins to care for her, that unyielding fixation pushes him to keep his distance—time and again. Season 3
The mysterious Alphabet Killer organization gradually comes to light. Under Han Chen and Su Mian’s relentless pursuit, the group unexpectedly strikes first, issuing a declaration that plunges the city into chaos: a bomb‑vest incident in the square, a chemical plant gone haywire with deadly casualties, and a poisoning attack involving humanoid sculptures at the botanical garden—each case unfolding in rapid succession. The Alphabet Killers seem to be weaving an intricate web, quietly luring Han Chen and Su Mian into their trap. A showdown between justice and evil is imminent. Hand in hand, Han Chen and Su Mian confront the Alphabet Killers while piecing together fragments of their own memories, eventually uncovering the true identities of the killers one by one. To their astonishment, the leader of the killer syndicate, S, turns out to be Xu Sibai—the close friend who has always been by Su Mian’s side. It was revealed that Su Mian’s father had been killed by Xu Sibai’s father, and for years, Xu Sibai had secretly watched over Su Mian, his feelings for her long since taking root. Five years earlier, the Alphabet Killers had orchestrated a shocking scheme: substituting Su Mian with her cousin, Bai Jinxi, who bore a striking resemblance to her, so that Su Mian could live on as Bai Jinxi. They even arranged for Han Chen, Su Mian, and Xu Sibai to lose their memories, all in order to let Xu Sibai remain by Su Mian’s side under a new identity. As the police launch a full‑scale manhunt against the Alphabet Killers, the two sides engage in a fierce battle. In the end, justice prevails, and every member of the Black Shield Unit finds a happy resolution. With the case finally closed, the team gathers for a reunion—only to discover, not far away, a portrait left behind. The figure in the painting is none other than Su Mian, signed simply “S.”
