Plot Summary:

During the Western Han dynasty, eight-year-old Liu Fuling, concealing his identity, journeyed through the vast, desolate desert. With no way out, a green-clad girl named Yun Ge—riding a snow camel from the Tianshan Mountains—suddenly appeared and led him safely out of the wilderness. Though as cold and aloof as ice, Liu Fuling was eventually touched by Yun Ge’s innocent charm. After exchanging gifts, they vowed to meet again in Chang’an ten years hence. Ten years later, Yun Ge returned to Chang’an, bearing the promise of their childhood, only to mistake Liu Bingyi for her childhood “Brother Ling.” She found that not only had he forgotten their desert vow, but he also kept company with a virtuous and beautiful woman, Xu Pingjun. Heartbroken, Yun Ge prepared to return to the Western Desert when she encountered the dashing young gentleman Meng Jue.
Meng Jue, a chance‑encountered stranger, comes to Yun Ge’s aid, resolving her troubles with quiet dedication. Though he appears aloof, he watches over her in his own unique way, unseen yet ever present. It turns out that when Yun Ge was eight, she inadvertently sent two pairs of pearl‑embroidered shoes—one to Liu Fuling, with whom she sealed a promise by crossing little fingers, and the other to Meng Jue, the little beggar she once met. Yun Ge pours all her heart into searching for Liu Fuling, only to stumble upon Meng Jue—by fate’s whimsy—and fall deeply in love. Those pearl‑embroidered shoes set in motion two fated romances; though it may seem like mere chance, they are, in truth, heaven’s greatest gift to Yun Ge. From a carefree young girl to one who has weathered life’s joys and sorrows, partings and reunions, Yun Ge remains the same kind, hopeful soul: riding a snow camel across the vast desert, always ready to help others and bring them hope. With steadfast effort and unwavering faith, she crafts the most delectable dishes and, beneath the blue sky and white clouds, sings the loveliest, most moving songs.
