Synopsis:

　　In the sixth year of the Qianlong reign, a young woman named Wei Yingluo (played by Wu Jinyan), seeking the truth behind her elder sister’s death, enters the Forbidden City as a palace maid. Through her investigations, Yingluo uncovers that her sister’s demise is linked to the eccentric Prince Hongzhuo, and she resolves to see justice done. Empress Fucha (played by Qin Lan), well-versed in ritual and propriety, worries that Yingluo may stray from the right path and does everything she can to offer her warmth and guidance. Under the empress’s careful mentorship, Wei Yingluo steadily matures into an upright, resilient court official, laying aside her resentment and embracing life with earnestness.

　　The Empress’s untimely passing left Yingluo deeply mistrustful of the Qianlong Emperor, and the two went from mutual hostility to eventual understanding and mutual support. With her fearless courage, sharp wit, and magnanimous heart, Yingluo overcame countless challenges within the imperial court and ultimately became Consort Ling, who helped usher in the golden age of the Qianlong reign. Only on her deathbed did Yingluo reveal to Qianlong—played by Nie Yuan—the late Empress Fucha’s dying wish: that she remain at Hongli’s side and assist him in becoming a wise and virtuous ruler. At last, Qianlong came to recognize the profound care and foresight behind the Empress Fucha’s earnest plea. In the sixtieth year of his reign, the Qianlong Emperor officially designated Prince Jia, Yongyan, the son of Wei Yingluo, as Crown Prince, while posthumously elevating the Crown Prince’s birth mother, Consort Lingyi, to the rank of Empress Xiaoyi. Thus, Yingluo fulfilled, through her entire life, the promise she had made to Empress Fucha.
