“Record of the Southern Smoke Chamber” is a Republican-era historical drama co-directed by Liu Haibo and Ye Zhaoyi, starring Liu Yifei and Jing Boran in the leading roles, with Wei Daxun, Liu Mintao, Jin Hao, Zhang Hanyun, and others in supporting parts.

The series is adapted from the eponymous manga co-created by Ke Xiaosa and Zuo Xiaoling, and follows Tang Man, an urban white-collar professional who, after suffering devastating setbacks in both her career and love life, returns to her hometown for a healing vacation—only to stumble upon a tattered manuscript.
