Plot Summary:

In the first year of the Taichu era, a divine stone descended from the heavens and scattered across the mortal realm. Legend has it that whoever beholds the inscription on the sacred stone may glimpse the secrets of the heavens. From that day forward, the divine stone became a holy relic, and the world was thrown into turmoil for ages. It was only when the human race joined forces with the demon‑kind of the Western Regions to drive the demonic tribes to the polar steppes that lasting peace was finally restored.
The young man Chen Changsheng, whose origins are shrouded in mystery, was rescued from the jaws of a golden dragon as an infant by his master, Ji Daoren, who took him on as a close‑disciple. Over the course of more than a decade, Ji imparted to him the three thousand volumes of Daoist scriptures. Yet Chen Changsheng’s constitution is peculiar: he cannot cultivate and is destined to live no longer than twenty years. In his teens, having completed his training, he descends the mountain, resolved to journey to the divine capital of the Zhou Dynasty and claim first place in the Great Imperial Examination, thereby obtaining the Divine Stone and defying fate to rewrite his destiny.
Wind follows the tiger, clouds follow the dragon. Through a confluence of fate and his own relentless effort, Chen Changsheng withstood the oppression of countless powers, surmounted one trial after another on the path of cultivation, and saw his strength grow by leaps and bounds. He also forged deep bonds with cherished friends—such as the prodigious youth Tang Sanshiliu, the demon‑race princess Bai Luoheng, and the demon‑race warrior Xuanyuan Po—and, with their aid, clinched first place in the fiercely competitive “Great Imperial Examination.” After entering the Divine Stone Tablet Mausoleum, he spent a single night perusing every tablet before it, triggering tremors in the heavens. Yet all this was only the beginning; as the tides of the world shifted, Chen Changsheng found himself inexorably drawn into the maelstrom.
