Plot Summary:

During the Republic of China era, the Liu family was wealthy and well‑known in the local community. Liu Yusheng (played by Jiang Zile) was once the young master of a prominent landlord’s household; after graduating from university and studying abroad, he found himself, upon his grandfather’s death, excluded from even a single cent of the inheritance. Forced to take a teaching position at a reputable secondary school, Liu Yusheng did not succumb to despair. Instead, he embraced his vocation as an educator, using it to pursue his lofty ideals and grand ambitions. Everything seemed to unfold according to his painstaking efforts—until, in his days of poverty and hardship, he unexpectedly ran into Zhou Yaohua (played by Yan Zidong), a former college classmate, who soon became a source of trouble. Faced with the pressures of life, love, and friendship, Liu Yusheng was left to make one difficult choice after another.
