Plot Summary:

Set against the backdrop of a large-scale palace maid escape at the Daming Palace during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty, the series tells a tale of family bonds, romantic love, and friendship. The female lead, Helan Xin’er, falls in love with Pei Shaoqing, a guard stationed at Danfeng Gate—only to discover on their wedding day that Empress Wang, who once showed her kindness, has been banished to the Cold Palace in connection with the murder of the young princess. Determined to repay her debt of gratitude, Xin’er forgoes her nuptials and boldly enters the inner palace, launching an investigation into the truth behind the tragedy. But she soon finds herself caught up in the courtly power struggles led by Wu Meiniang. Confronted with dilemmas of love versus duty, right versus wrong, she endures relentless trials and must make difficult choices. In the end, moved by Wu Meiniang’s grand vision and unwavering resolve, Xin’er decides to stay by her side and serve as her loyal aide. Over the course of many years, the two women join forces, surmounting one obstacle after another, until they finally achieve their shared aspirations and fulfill their own ideal lives.
