Plot Summary:

     Pharmacist Gonggong’s apprentice, Xu Xuan, and his junior sister, Leng Ning, practice medicine and save lives. At the Peach Blossom Festival, they meet Bai Yaoyao; after many trials and tribulations, the two finally become husband and wife. Yet, in order to rescue Xu Xuan, Bai Yaoyao steals a divine herb, thereby violating heavenly law. Once recovered, Xu Xuan recalls his past and ventures alone to bring her back. Envious of Bai Yaoyao, Leng Ning summons a dragon, unleashing chaos upon the mortal world. To atone for her sins, Bai Yaoyao is sealed beneath Leifeng Pagoda by Qi Xiao. Overwhelmed with grief, Xu Xuan renounces the world and retreats to the Buddhist monastic life. Hearing Bai Yaoyao’s earnest counsel, Xiaoqing returns to the mountains to cultivate. Twenty years later, Bai Yaoyao sees the light once more; her karmic ties with Xu Xuan have been resolved, and Qi Xiao, having severed all earthly attachments, enters the Buddhist path.
