Plot Summary:

     In 1942, the Chinese Expeditionary Force of 100,000 troops suffered a disastrous defeat along the Nujiang River, leaving 50,000 brave souls forever resting on the China–Burma border. A year later, the Expeditionary Force’s headquarters received a top-secret telegram: the Japanese were developing a poison gas bomb in the Wild Man Mountain region. Should the enemy succeed, the situation along the Nujiang would become extremely precarious, directly jeopardizing the broader anti‑fascist war effort. Consequently, the headquarters resolved to dispatch… A special task force crossed the Nujiang River and infiltrated the Wild Man Mountain to thwart the Japanese army’s sinister plot. Braving the mountain’s harsh and unforgiving environment, the team advanced methodically, outwitting and outmaneuvering their foes in a fierce and tragic struggle. Meanwhile, the Nationalist 36th Army, stationed along the Nujiang front, worked closely with the Communist underground cells in Tengchong, rescuing hostages and pinning down Japanese forces, thereby providing cover and support for the task force’s operations. After enduring countless hardships and setbacks, the special unit entered and exited the Wild Man Mountain twice, ultimately dismantling the Japanese conspiracy at the very brink of catastrophe and making a decisive contribution to turning the tide of the war. Shortly thereafter, using the Wild Man Mountain as a breakthrough, the Expeditionary Force launched the strategic counteroffensive in western Yunnan.
