One of the underlying messages of “Prosperous Chang’an” is the hope for thriving industries and peaceful lives for the people; accordingly, the series makes extensive use of “Chinese red” along with warm hues like orange and yellow, highlighting both the regal majesty of the imperial court and the vibrant bustle of everyday life in the marketplace.

Meanwhile, the solemnity of autumn military reviews is further heightened by the evocative sounds of cold browns and grays, mingling with the clashing of weapons—each echoing its own setting. From imperial palaces and grand halls to humble alleyways and the battlefield, the scene vividly portrays how hard-won the prosperity of Chang’an truly was.

Clouds seem to wear her robes, flowers seem to vie for her grace; the spring breeze brushes the balustrade, and the dew is richly opulent.

Beyond the painstaking attention to detail in the post-production visuals, the costumes—crafted with the involvement of the Zhu brothers—also exude an artisan’s meticulous artistry. Exquisite embroidery perfectly captures the youthful elegance of the young heroes and the regal dignity of the sovereign. The armor worn by the lead actors seamlessly blends opulent splendor with practical functionality, evoking the heroic spirit of “sharing roasted meat under a thousand‑li banner, strumming fifty‑stringed zithers to the sounds beyond the frontier,” and raising anticipation to soaring heights!

This time, the ruqun has become a key element in crafting the splendor of the imperial court. The designer tailored each piece to reflect the character’s status and age. Rich Chinese red, vibrant and radiant, is complemented by gradient-printed details that exude the dignified elegance befitting the grand ceremonial traditions of the Dasheng Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Dong Ruoxuan’s pairing of goose yellow with indigo blue conveys a sense of youthful grace and lively charm.
