The story unfolds against the backdrop of the martial world, centering on Zhongxue Zhi, the young heir of the Chonghuo Palace, who ventures into the jianghu for the first time. At the Heavenly Assembly, she meets Shangguan Tou, the master of the Yue Shang Valley. Following the theft of the palace’s treasured “Lian Shen Nine Forms,” Zhongxue Zhi is expelled from the palace and repeatedly targeted in assassination attempts. Historical dramas have long been the Zhu brothers’ forte, and this time they’re doubling down on period martial‑arts storytelling, taking charge of the entire post‑production process for “Moonlight Blade.” Notably, this is also the first project the Zhu brothers have officially announced since moving into their new home. In honor of this “housewarming gift,” every department has thrown itself into the effort, leaving no stone unturned in hopes of bringing the very essence of the chivalrous martial world vividly to life for audiences.

The series’ post-production draws inspiration from the martial‑arts world itself, with its clash of blades and shadowy intrigue, employing a rich palette of cyan and blue hues alongside subtle ink‑wash brushwork to evoke an immersive wuxia atmosphere. The sound team crafted distinct sonic signatures for each weapon listed in the “Weapon Compendium”: Shangguan Tou’s folding fan features a high‑frequency, velocity‑driven timbre, while Zhong Xuezhi’s Hanyue Sword is rendered with a feminine yet crisp whoosh, allowing viewers to “identify the sword by its sound, and the person by the sword.”
