Plot Summary:

     The series is adapted from one of China’s Four Great Classical Novels, “Water Margin.” During the Northern Song Dynasty, corrupt officials held sway, and the people suffered under oppressive rule. In the Shandong region, 108 heroic outlaws—led by Song Jiang, Lin Chong, Wu Song, Lu Zhishen, and others—banded together on Liangshan Mountain, hoisting the banner of “acting in Heaven’s name to right the wrongs of the world.” They fought against greedy officials and ruthless tyrants, safeguarding the common folk. Later, under the leadership of their chief, Song Jiang, the Liangshan heroes accepted the imperial court’s offer of amnesty. Devoted to serving the state, they fought bravely and repeatedly repelled foreign invaders at the nation’s borders, earning illustrious military achievements. Yet a clique of powerful ministers, headed by Grand Marshal Gao Qiu, conspired for personal gain and plotted to murder… Song Jiang Liangshan generals such as Lu Junyi and Li Kui were later exposed by the emperor, who ultimately brought several treacherous ministers to justice one by one.
