Plot Summary:

In 1932, Nalan Dong, a patriotic youth who had fled northeast China to Shanghai, gathered Yu Xia, Qu Feng, Cheng Nuo, Edison, and others to form an underground anti-Japanese special task force. Amidst brutal conditions, they engaged in a cat-and-mouse game with Japanese officers like Colonel Fukaya, striving to intercept the “Plan for Armed Japanese Residents in the Concession” devised by the Japanese military headquarters. Throughout this struggle, a vengeful figure codenamed “Athena” appeared intermittently, subtly guiding the task force’s operations. Through repeated attempts to seize the plan, the task force forged a deep bond with Liulizi, and together they waged a desperate battle against the Japanese invaders. Meanwhile, Shanghai’s underground party members, Dong Zhongyang and Fang Jie, kept a close watch on the actions of the task force and Liulizi, actively working to bring them into the Party’s broader network. After Dong Zhongyang’s sacrifice, Nalan Dong resolutely submitted his application to join the Party. Thereafter, enduring the harshest conditions, he infiltrated behind enemy lines, thwarting numerous schemes hatched by Colonel Fukaya, and emerged as a steadfast Communist.
