Plot Summary:

In the year 464 AD, Liu Ziye (played by Zhang Yijie) ascended the throne—cruel and quick-tempered. His half-sister, Princess Shanyin Liu Chuyu (played by Guan Xiaotong), was even more licentious and indulgent, with countless suitors at her beck and call. The Tianji Tower, the most powerful gang in the martial world, sought to overthrow Liu Ziye’s tyrannical rule. Zhuque (also played by Guan Xiaotong) arrived at the princess’s residence, began cultivating loyal confidants, and met Rongzhi (played by Song Weilong). Faced with Rongzhi, Zhuque secretly fell for him. In the end, the Tianji Tower helped Liu Yu seize the throne; Liu Ziye was slain, and Zhuque, too, “died” during the rebellion. Rongzhi stepped in to help, taking Zhuque to a neighboring kingdom. There, Zhuque discovered that Rongzhi was actually a close aide of the Northern Wei Empress Dowager (played by Wu Jinyan), who had gone undercover in the princess’s household, enduring humiliation and hardship in order to wrest control of the Southern Dynasties. Zhuque confessed her love to Rongzhi, but he chose his country and its future over her. Heartbroken, Zhuque departed. Yet Rongzhi, too, harbored deep feelings for her; when faced with her resolute departure, he ultimately chose her, pretending to be a monk named Guancanghai, and the two ended up living as neighbors.
